Privacy Policy
Last updated 10 July 2026
Invie helps you create digital event invitations, collect RSVPs, and gather photos and messages from your guests. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Who we are
Invie (“Invie”, “we”, “us”) provides the service at invie.com.au. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at hello@invie.com.au.
Information we collect
Host accounts
When you sign up as a host, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your name and email address, and if you choose to sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares to confirm your identity. We use this to create and secure your account.
Guest information you enter
As a host, you add details about your guests so you can invite them and manage your event. This can include guest names, phone numbers, email addresses, dietary requirements, RSVP responses, and any notes or messages recorded against a guest.
Hosts are responsible for their guest lists. You must have a reasonable basis or the guest’s consent to add their personal information to Invie and to contact them about your event. You act as the person deciding how that guest information is used; we process it on your behalf to run the service.
Guest uploads
Guests can upload photos and videos to an event guestbook and leave messages. These are stored so they can be shown to the host and other guests of that event.
Payments and donations
When you purchase a plan, or when a guest donates to an event that has enabled donations, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive a record of the transaction (such as amount, date, and status) but we never see or store full card numbers — Stripe handles card details directly under its own security standards.
Technical information
Like most websites, we automatically receive limited technical data such as your IP address and browser type to keep the service secure and working. We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and maintain your session — we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use information
- To create and secure host accounts and keep you signed in.
- To build and publish invitations and manage RSVPs, seating, and dietary needs.
- To deliver invitations and reminders you send by email or WhatsApp.
- To store and display guest photos, videos, and messages for an event.
- To process plan payments and, where enabled, guest donations.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide support.
- To protect the service against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run Invie, and only as needed for them to perform their function:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Invie, our users, or others.
Overseas storage
Invie is built on cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States. This means your information — including guest details and uploads — is stored and processed on servers located overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure our providers protect your information to a standard consistent with the APPs.
How long we keep it
We keep event and guest information for as long as the associated host account or event is active, so you can manage your event and revisit it afterwards. If you ask us to delete your account or a specific event, we will delete the associated personal information, except where we need to retain limited records to meet legal or accounting obligations.
Access, correction, and deletion
You can access and update most of your information directly in your Invie dashboard. If you would like a copy of your information, want something corrected, or would like your account or event data deleted, email us at hello@invie.com.au and we will help. If you are a guest and want your information removed from an event, contact the host who invited you, or reach out to us and we can assist.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit and access controls with our providers. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Making a complaint
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@invie.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
